Land
Centex Homes leads the home building industry in land conservation efforts. The Centex Homes Land Legacy Fund helps finance land and water preservation projects across the United States through an initiative with The Conservation Fund, ranked as one of the nation's best charities.
Centex Homes' contributions to land conservation efforts since 1999 total more than $5 million, making the company the industry's clear leader in this important effort for the environment.
Home
Centex Homes, as a builder of neighborhoods, believes purchasing a home fosters the spirit of community that is the backbone of our society. Habitat for Humanity International builds good homes for families who could not normally afford one. As a long-time supporter of Habitat, we regularly provide the organization with monetary and material contributions as well as volunteer labor to build homes. It is an honor to support an organization that helps eliminate sub-standard housing and homelessness, and makes decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
In 2005, Centex Homes will fulfill its current five-year, $5 million "Cornerstone Commitment" to Habitat for Humanity. Centex Homes’ commitment (the equivalent of building 20 homes for deserving families each year) includes cash contributions, building materials, construction management support and skilled labor. Centex Homes has also made an additional $50,000 contribution to Habitat for Humanity International’s World Leaders Build.
People
Centex Homes also sponsors programs that support the people who will build the homes of tomorrow. Our $1 million commitment to the National Housing Endowment (NHE), the philanthropic arm of the National Association of Home Builders, provides need-based scholarships to college students pursuing careers in home building.
